Udaipur : A woman was burnt alive when the car she was driving caught fire suddenly on Saturday night near a garden at HiranMagri sector 3 area of the city. “The fire was so instantaneous that the woman could not get out of the car and reduced to ashes in minutes, “said a police official. The victim was identified as Ritu Jain (27) wo Abhineet Chhajed resident of sector 4 area.
The woman had gone to her parent’s home for preparations of her cousin’s wedding and the incident took place later evening when she was driving back home. Short circuit was told be the probable reason behind the fire, however, police said details would be known only after complete investigation. The incident was so sudden that even the passer bys couldn’t realize what had happened. People saw flames engulf the whole vehicle and they could hear the victim shout for help. One of a man who attempted to rescue her too sustained minor burn injuries but could not get her out as the flames were raised too high. Fire fighters and police forces rushed for help but by the time they could douse the fire, nothing had been left.
It took much time for the police to find how many people were seated inside the vehicle as everything was burnt. Later the identification was made through the vehicle’s registration number. The victim’s family is said to be in a state of shock. Gloom descended the household which was bursting with activities for the wedding ceremony which was scheduled for Monday. “ Ritu was the most excited and she had come home to rehearse for the ladies sangeet on Sunday but fate had something else stored for her” said one of her close relative. On sunday the FSL team took samples for investigation, police said.
