Udaipur police nab Iranian citizens who stole currencies from forex trader in Hyderabad

Udaipur : Udaipur police detained four Iranian citizens including a woman who were travelling to Ajmer on Tuesday night at a check post near Parsad police station. Two men turned out to be  robbers who had fled after stealing 70 thousand rupees in new currency and 250 US dollars from a forex trader at Malakpet in Hyderabad under Telangana a week ago.

“ We were informed from headquarters to put up a check post after receiving alert from the Hyderabad police who were in lookout for two men on a case of robbery filed against them. Four tourists who were travelling in a rental car on Tuesdaywere interrogated at the checkpost and we detained them on suspicion and informed the Hyderabad police” Devendra Singh, Sub Inspector Parsad police station told TOI. On Wednesday morning, the foreigners were brought to Udaipur.  Meanwhile the Hyderabad police team too arrived on wednesday and identified the two robbers on the basis of the CCTV footage. The people held were Farhana so Nusrat, Hussain so Ali Haider, Harsan so Suleiman and Sakhi so Meher Ali who were all citizens of Iran. The Hyderabad team took away the foreigners after completing formalities.

The complaint was given by one K Chandrasekhar Reddy, from Ramanthapur who runs a foreign exchange trading office at Moosarambagh area of Malakpet. Two men had approached him last week to exchange US $100 with Indian currency. Reddy agreed to pay 6,400 for the dollars and asked for a copy of their ID cards. The men requested for a glass of water and when the trader went to get water, they stole the 2,000 notes, and US $250 bills from the drawer.
