Udaipur : Students of the Ravindra Nath Tagore medical college here went on a destruction spree and thrashed up hotel staff on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad Highway on Thursday midnight. They broke furniture, damaged the hotel property and attacked the staff because they were denied food in the late night hours. Police arrested 4 of the students and 2 vehicles have been seized. The matter is still under investigation, some of the staff have been seriously hurt, said Ravindra Charan, SHO Goverdhan Vilas police station.
The incident took place late night around 1 am when a some students walked into Hotel CharanKamal, a famous vegetarian dhaba on the NH-8 near Surpalaya, Kaya 20 kms from Udaipur. They were in a drunk state and asked one of the staff to take their food order. The staff expressed their inability to serve during late hours as the kitchen had been closed. After a short argument with the hotel owner, the students then left only to come back an hour later with a larger group. According to the hotel staff, the men who came in 3-4 cars where around 20 in numbers who went on a destruction spree. They broke glasses, damaged furniture and utensils kept on the tables. They thrashed the hotelier and the staff members who tried to stop them. Police managed to catch 4 of the gang while the others managed to flee. They were all medical students, though not of the same batch and pursuing graduate and post graduate courses, the SHO said.
